SENIOR MEN

COMPETING IN THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA STATE LEAGUE 4 NORTH
COACH: ARCH GIOTOPOULOS
ASSISTANT COACH: RYAN FLOYD

First Team coach – Arch Giotopoulos is in his third year at the club and has put together a very competitive squad of players for the 2020 season. Arch has built on his 2019 squad by bringing in some exciting new players to aid our push toward promotion.

Arch is a well credentialed coach who obtained his B-License in 2017 after coaching stints at La Trobe University and Northcote City.

Arch is ably assisted in 2020 by new comer to the club – Ryan Floyd. ‘Floydy’ joined Watsonia Heights FC in March 2020 and has brought many years of football knowledge and plenty of enthusiasm for the game with him.

Arch and Ryan have a wealth of football knowledge between them sharing a passion for the game of Football. With these two men at the helm, we have very high expectations for season 2020.

RESERVES

COMPETING IN THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA STATE LEAGUE 4 NORTH
COACH: MICK CRONIN
TEAM ASSISTANT: ANTHONY KANDI

After being gently coerced in to coaching last season by an insightful President, Mick Cronin will take the reins of our Reserve Team Squad for the 2020 Season. Mick enjoyed his baptism into coaching in 2019 and has followed this up by recently obtaining his C-License early in 2020. Mick began his football career in Ireland, before eventually finding his way to Moreland City. For the past few years, Mick has played for Watsonia Heights FC first team and is a popular character within our club. He’s usually easy to find as he is always wearing the most up to date club merchandise.

Mick Cronin will be assisted by former club captain Anthony Kandi in season 2020. Anthony has played for Watsonia Heights FC for many years causing football havoc (and indeed confusion) with identical twin brother Chris Kandi. If Anthony’s knees will let him, he may don the boots again this season with our social thirds team.

Mick and Anthony have a very strong squad of players to work with in 2020, which will both support and provide pressure on the first team squad to perform.

THIRDS

COMPETING IN THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA METROPOLITAN 6 NORTH-WEST LEAGUE
COACH: MIKE KALMA

With the popularity of football continually growing in the Banyule City Council area – Watsonia Heights FC will be fielding two Metropolitan league teams in 2020.

We have our third(s) team squad who will compete in the Metropolitan 6 NW league. Mike Kalma will continue on from last season as the coach of this squad – which is a combination of youthful and experienced players that provide credible competition for on field positions to our Reserve team players.

SOCIAL TEAM

COMPETING IN THE FOOTBALL VICTORIA METROPOLITAN LEAGUE 3 NORTH-WEST
COACH: JEREMY SUMMERS

In 2020, we’re introducing a ‘Social’ team who have named themselves the ‘Watsonia Heights FC – Royales’. Veteran WHFC player and ex club Captain – Jeremy Summers has taken the role of ‘organiser’ for this team of ex-WHFC players, mates and blokes just keen for kick.

Training once a week and playing on Friday’s and Sunday’s this team will still be very competitive with some very experienced players involved – but will also provide a social outlet for those who love football and playing alongside their mates at Watsonia Heights FC.

MASTERS

OVER 35'S COMPETING IN METROPOLITAN MASTERS NORTH LEAGUE
COACH: TREVOR CARSON (RESIDENT FOOTBALL LEGEND AT WHFC)

Resident Football legend (who has the statistics to prove it) and all round nice guy – Trevor Carson is coaching our Masters Team (over 35’s). This will be their second season after finishing a creditable forth in the Men’s Metropolitan Masters North league in 2019. With the Banyule City Council replacing the flood lights at Elder Street Reserve this year – we plan to play all our Masters Home games on Friday evenings kicking off at 7:00pm.

This is an exciting opportunity for Watsonia Heights FC – bringing real football to Watsonia on Friday nights and allowing our members and supporters to watch the champions of yesteryear strutting their stuff on a Friday night while winding down from a long week at work.
